Mark Levin's American Marxism was number one on the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list when I read the book. All seven of Levin's books have reached number one on this list. He makes his point on American Marxism right at the outset when he writes this: "The counterrevolution is in full force. And it can no longer be dismissed or ignored, for it is devouring our society and culture, swirling around our everyday lives, and ubiquitous in our politics, schools, media, and entertainment. Once a mostly unrelatable, fringe, and subterranean movement, it is here - it is everywhere. You, your children, and your grandchildren are now immersed in it, and it threatens to destroy the greatest nation ever established, along with your freedom, family, and security. Of course, the primary difference between the counterrevolution and the American Revolution is that the former seeks to destroy American society and impose autocratic rule, and the latter sought to protect American society and institute representative government. The counterrevolution or movement of which I speak is Marxism." Levin goes on to note that American Marxists call themselves "progressives," "Democratic Socialists," "social activists," "community activists," etc. and claim to promote economic and environmental justice, racial equity, gender equity, and claim that the dominant culture and the capitalist system are unjust, racist, sexist, imperialistic, and destructive of the environment. The purpose of all of this is to "transform" (remember that word?) America and replace our republic with a government-controlled society. Statism, demanding compliance and conformity, eliminating contrary thinking, and teaching children anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and a restructured version of American history. Levin deals with all of these issues (and more), provides a wealth of historical background on Marxism, and closes with a chapter entitled "We Choose Liberty," outlining what can and should be done to combat the "transformation" of America. American Marxism is a highly important book and America will have to deviate from the radical actions and trends now being taken else America will cease being a republic where individual rights prevail.
